Updated Electric Green Lemonade Recipes (juice/smoothie combo)

I love green smoothies, but I have found that I have been loving juicing lately too ...problem with juicing is you lose the fiber.  So, I've been playing around with my favorite green juice recipe and have a really delicious juice/smoothie combo that retains all the fiber of the greens.

Ingredients:

3 apples

2 lemons

1 head of romaine lettuce

3 leaves of kale or collards (if you are new to green drinks, I would either skip this or use 1 leaf)

1 knob of ginger

1 clove of garlic

1 dropper full of marine phytoplankton (optional)

I juiced the apples and lemons and then poured the juice into my blender with the remaining ingredients plus 1 cup of water (I added the marine phytoplankton after blending).  The result == fantastic!  I still have my favorite juice and now can enjoy the benefits of the fiber including helping to slow the absorption of the sugar from the apples into my bloodstream so I don't get the big sugar high ;-)

Mom's Birthday Smoothie

Today is my Mom's birthday and even though she is no longer with us, I like to celebrate as I know she would like that ;-)  She would be 69 today ...

I returned from Costa Rica about a week ago - I was there attending the Nosara Yoga Institute's Yoga Teacher 200 training.  It was an amazing experience!  One of the things I loved about being in Costa Rica was the wonderful fresh fruit - I ate yummy mango, pineapple and bananas every day.

So, I thought I would create a special smoothie (Costa Rican style) and dedicate it to my Mom for her birthday - she always loved warm places!

Mom's Birthday Smoothie

1 cup pineapple
1/2 mango
1 banana
1 1/2 cup coconut water
1 dropper of marine phytoplankton (omegas, B's, complete protein)
1 tsp maca powder
& add lots of love as you blend :-)

Celebrate Earth Day with a Green Smoothie!

Earth Day wouldn't be complete without celebrating with a green smoothie ;-)

This particular green smoothie has lots of goodies in her ... thanks to Momma Earth!

So TASTY & ENERGIZING -- YOWSA!

Spinach (1 handful)
Strawberries (1 cup)
Mango (1 whole)
Goji Berries (small handful)
Maca Powder (1 tsp)
Peaches (about a cup)
a bit 'o banana (1/4)
Hemp Seed (2 tablespoons)
2 cups of water

Scrumptious green smoothie

HI All,

Gotta love the spring time!  Green smoothies are perfect this time of year ... so detoxing .... I just made a delightful concoction that I wanted to share.

1 very large handful of spinach (if you buy in a bunch - it's the whole thing)
1 banana
1 peach
1 small mango
1 handful of blueberries
2 cups of coconut water
2 tablespoons of hemp seed

YUMMMY!   and, I do mean yummmmmmy ..... mmmmmmmmm ..........
